Goat Cheese Tart

Whoever first made cheese from goat's milk is now my favorite person in the world. It's smooth, creamy, slightly tangy, and pretty to look at. I could eat it with a spoon and be a happy mamasita. But how boring would that be?? So, tonight I made a Pear and Goat Cheese Tart. It is so beautiful I almost don't want to cut into it! I beat an egg, 6oz of Goat Cheese, some heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla together, spread into a tart pan I had pressed some pastry dough into, topped with thinly sliced pears, brushed the pears with honey-butter, and baked for 30min at 375. I cannot wait to try it! I also found a recipe for a savory Fig and Goat Cheese tart that looks divine, I am anxious to make it. Where does one find Figs in West Texas??? Where I am from it is unbelievably difficult to find any thing more exotic than bananas...I have no idea how to get the fancy fruit I want (aside from online ordering) but I will not rest until I have some! When I eat elegant French food like these recipes I feel like I should have wine in a goblet and a hot man-slave fanning me.

Also, I am thinking about telling my husband I want to buy a goat.

  1. Your tart looks beautiful. Maybe you should buy a fig tree instead of a goat. I lived in FL for a while and sympathize with you. All they had there was fresh fish, which ok I love but couldn't find a decent herb. TX is way worse. They do have dried figs that come in a package and tho they're not the same, they're delicious, like a dried apricot compared to a fresh one. Hmm is this your same blog? It looks different. It's nice to see all the posts but they're all at the left. Tho I do like the birds at top. Maybe you could get hub to build you a greenhouse and you could grow what you really want. Try a persimmon tree--I'm mad for persimmons. I've made stuffed mushrooms with goat cheese, chopped parsley or cilantro, panko breadcrumbs. Really simple and good. You could make a goat cheese quiche. Why not!

  2. Yes,you are so right...yes same blog...I wonder why it looks differend??? I will have to come in and look at it while not signed in to see what is going on...I could probably grow some things, I had a pretty good garden last year even though the heat here was horrendous. I love mushrooms so much, and cheese too. I haven't tried quiche's yet! A bit intimidated, aren't they technically difficult??
